Sóller Train - Come aboard and take a ride into the past
One of the most unique and authentic experiences you can enjoy in Palma is getting on the small and quaint Sóller Train, which, as the name suggests, links the capital of Mallorca with the city of Sóller in the north of the island. The railway, with its original wooden carriages, was built in the early 20th century and it extends over a distance of 27 kilometres, with stops in Son Sardina and Bunyola.
The journey is simply fantastic, as it crosses the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and winds through orange groves, mountains and the inland areas of the island. Once in Sóller, if you want to, you can link up with a tram that connects the town with the port. And speaking of combinations, there is another unbeatable one: the so called Vuelta Isla, which combines, in a single day, the Sóller train and tram with a boat trip that will take you to Sa Calobra and El Torrent de Pareis, the most photographed cove in Mallorca (and rightly so). All aboard!
